A Happy Mom

I shared this thought on my Instagram feed and I felt it would be also good to share it here, because it is very personal and important to me, and because this blog is not only my creative outlet but also my digital journal:

”I am the ONLY one who can give my children a HAPPY mom” Some of you know I had PPD after having Thomas. It was such a hard and dark season for me and one of my biggest fears when I found out I was pregnant with Emma. Adjusting to life with a new baby, not matter if it is your first, second, third, and so on, it’s always HARD. Hormones, exhaustion, the way your body looks, the fears... they are not a joke!

This time around I was starting to feel moody and irritated and I was so scared of falling in that dark hole again. However after praying for help the Lord sent me help in a very random and simple way. I saw that the talented @jessicajanaee shared the quote from above on her Instagram page, and it literally changed my mindset.

I made a list of things I needed to do, have and change in order to feel better. I talked to Alex about them and we made some goals together. I committed to myself and to my plan. Positive affirmations, well defined goals, prioritizing, simplifying, expressing more gratitude, validating my feelings and realizing I will have good days and not so good ones too, exercising, starting the day with happy music, meal prepping, making time for date nights and making time to work in the things I enjoy, are just part of the things I have been doing.

Working extra hard on me has really changed the way I feel, the way I live my life and the way I love my precious family and the many wonderful people around me. I wanted to post about this because that quote helped me so much and I hope by sharing my experience I can help someone else.

YOU are the ONLY ONE who can give yourself a HAPPY life ❤️
